Police Report 4/17 - 4/23/2023

Monday, April 17, 2023
- 7:20. AM. Deputy responded to a motorist assist in the 100 block of W Veterans Dr.
- 5:30PM. The deputy returned a phone call regarding a neighbor dispute in the 200 block of E Sycamore St.
- 9:34 PM. The deputy investigated a report of suspicious activity in the t-ball parking lot.
- 10:42 PM. Deputies received a report of possible runaways. They were located in the 600 block of S 1st and returned home.

Tuesday, April 18, 2023
- 5:12 AM. The deputy responded to a report of criminal mischief in the 400 block of W Division St. A 17-year-old male was subsequently arrested for 5th-degree criminal mischief and released to his legal guardian.
- 8:46 AM. The officer addressed a burning complaint in the 500 block of S 1st St.
- 9:30 AM. The officer received a report of a scam in the 300 block of SW 4th. The scammer, pretending to be the victim’s grandson, stated that he was in jail on an $80,000 bond and needed the victim to send him $8,000 to pay a bondsman. Fortunately, the victim did not give out any information or money. The victim was also able to make contact with the grandson and verify that he was fine and not in any legal trouble.
- 11:36 AM. The officer received a report of a dog at large. The officer was busy at the time of the call but recognized the description and was able to contact and advise the dog’s owner.
- 12:18 PM. The officer assisted Boone PD with delivering a message to a resident in the 200 block of NE 3rd St.
- 1:20 PM. The officer investigated a report of missing items from the 200 block of W Walnut St. The items were located.
- 10:52 PM. Officers and deputies responded to a report of a wrong-way driver on Highway 30. They were unable to locate the suspected vehicle.

Wednesday, April 19, 2023
- 5:45 PM. The officer and deputy responded to an alarm in the 300 block of W Walnut St. It was determined to be a false alarm.
- 8:18 PM. The officer arrested 40-year-old Coby Sims on a Story County warrant in the 200 block of E Walnut St.
- 10:15 PM. The officer investigated a burning complaint in the 300 block of E Elm St. The fire was extinguished.

Thursday, April 20, 2023
- 1:15 PM. The officer took a report of criminal mischief in the 100 block of W Locust St. The investigation is ongoing.
- 5:44 PM. The officer assisted with a funeral escort.

Friday, April 21, 2023
- 8:27 PM. The officer responded to 515 NW 2nd St. for a report of a sick raccoon in a person’s yard. The animal was gone before the officers’ arrival.
- 8:56 PM. The officer responded to the 200 block of NE 4th St. about a complaint of a suspicious vehicle. The vehicle was gone before the officer’s arrival.
- 9:23 PM. The officer responded to SW 4th St. and West Division St. on a complaint of two dogs at large. When the Officer arrived, the owner was looking for the dogs and found them.
