Police Report 10/27/2025-11/2/2025
Monday, October 27, 2025
-2:16PM. Officer responded to a 911 hangup in the 500 block of NW 7th St. Officer made contact with the victim of a domestic assault who stated the suspect was next door and armed. With the assistance of the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol (Negotiator Team and Tactical Team), and Iowa DNR, the suspect, Benjamin Sanchez Styles, was safely taken into custody and subsequently charged with Domestic Abuse with Display of a Dangerous Weapon, Control of a Firearm by a Felon, and Violation/Contempt of a No Contact Order. On scene law enforcement were also assisted by the Boone County Communications Center, Boone County Clerk of Court, Boone County Attorney’s Office, and Boone County Emergency Management.

-2:41PM. Officer took a report of a motorist striking the stack of firewood at the Ogden Caseys. There did not appear to be any damage or injuries so employees told the driver he could leave prior to the officer responding.
-11:30PM. Officer responded to a civil dispute in the 100 block of W Maple St.

-11:54AM. Officer returned a phone call to a citizen looking for some contact information.
-12:51PM. Officer responded to a welfare check in the 500 block of S 1st St regarding concerns of a subject standing too close to the roadway while greeting traffic. Officer spoke with the subject and reminded them to keep a safe distance. The subject’s family was also contacted to make sure they were aware as well.
-6:03PM. Officer assisted with a medical call in the 200 block of W Sycamore St.

-9:30AM. Officer assisted the Boone County Sheriff’s Office with a motor vehicle collision at 270th St and H Ave.
-4:00PM. Officer returned a phone call regarding a civil property issue.
-9:26PM. Deputy responded to a report of a sick/injured opossum in the 200 block of SW 8th St. The deputy was unable to locate it.
-11:59PM. Reports of something evil lurking in the dark. Caller states that under the moonlight there was a sight that almost stopped their heart. They tried to scream, but terror took the sound before they made it.

-4:44PM. Deputy took a report of a possible scam. The reporting party stated that he was talking to a female on the app “Whatsapp”. This female told him that her sister was going to send him a check to cash and then asked that he send the money back to her because there was an issue with her bank account. The deputy advised that this did sound like a scam, to stop communicating with the female, and to check in with his bank.
-6:55PM. Deputy returned a phone call regarding a civil property dispute. While on the phone, the reporting party stated that they were able to resolve the issue and didn’t require law enforcement assistance.
NOTE: Open burning runs through November 30th. Any burning of landscape shall not start before 10am and must be completely extinguished each day by 8pm. Recreational fires such as firepits and grills may be used at any time. Burning garbage, treated/sawn wood, or tires is still prohibited. Please use common sense while burning and be courteous of your neighbors.
