Mayor Comments: Mayor Trueblood suggested we get a couple of dumpsters the next time we have a large storm where tree limbs are an issue. The dumpsters would only be available for smaller limps not large tree disposal. He would also like to find some volunteers to help with weeding the community center flower beds. Maybe 4-H clubs could be of service. Trueblood will also not be seeking reelection in November. He has served 7 terms as mayor and 2 on city council.
Councilmember Comments: Dave Olson noticed the weeds in the lots on Walnut Street are an eyesore and would like to see them taken care of. He also would like Administrator Clausen to look into a firefighter fund to attract more volunteers in the future. Brian Reimers is happy to know that the Ogden website will soon be up and running. He invited the council to help with fundraising for the Veteran Center being built in Boone. It is about a 5 million dollar project. Brenda Dryer spoke about the soil study for the Johnson property. They will do a number of borings on the property. Soyland Homes are still sitting empty with no progress. Lori Anderson is happy with the progress from the Recreation Board. Immanual Lutheran Church donated $5000 to the Community Garden. Margaret Liston asked if the screens at the city park shelter had been fixed before Fun Days. Emily Clausen informed the council that there will be fresh mulch put in at the City Park before Fun Days. She also informed the Council of an abandoned 16-inch line that goes under Highway 30 to the south that could be used in the future, the council would like Clausen to look into it for the future. Osmundson’s out of Perry would like to rent the entire City Park for a company picnic. This has never been done for a private event. Clausen will get more information from them before any decisions are made. A property owner has planted Hibiscus bushes or trees in the city right away. The owner would like permission to keep them where they are. The council wants the code enforced and therefore they need removed. Clausen will contact the property owner.
Public Comments: Jason Weber informed the council that homeowners are hooking up generators that are very dangerous and would like homeowners to have to obtain a permit to do so. This is something the city will have to look into. Pamela Holt would like the city to reconsider their stance on the chicken policy. Tim Schlenker had some questions about the size of the street on SE 2nd. He was advised to contact Dan Buzzell.
Motion by Liston, seconded by Crane to adjourn at 6:56 pm.
Ayes: All Present, Motion Carried.
Mark Trueblood, Mayor
