STATEMENT OF COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS

January 8, 2019

The Ogden City Council met in Regular Session on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers. Mayor Denny Good presided. Members present were Councilman Dave Ohlson, Councilman Sean Thompson, Councilman Brian Reimers, Councilwoman Lori Anderson and Councilwoman Margaret Liston. City staff present were City Administrator Emily Clausen, City Clerk Melanie Olesen, Sewer Superintendent Chad Thede, Police Chief Mick Bailey, Library Director Lori Reutter and City Attorney Lee Johnson. Additional attendees present were 3 guests.

 

Ohlson made a motion, Liston seconded, to approve the Regular Meeting minutes of Tuesday, December 11th, 2018.

Ayes: All Present, Motion Carried.

 

Anderson made a motion, Liston seconded, to approve the December 2018 Treasurer’s report.

Ayes: All Present, Motion Carried.

Department Reports were presented.

 

Public Comment. Lori Anderson was wondering if the council should have their own city email rather than using personal emails. Emily Clausen met with Rec Coordinator Jessica Christensen and she has some new programs to implement this year.

 

Tina Palmer from YSS gave an update on the current services provided to Ogden residents. YSS made their annual request for $3,000.

 

Library Director Lori Reutter gave the annual library report. The library should be receiving their Tier 3 status which will increase state funding. A new 4 session arts program for 55+ will begin soon. This is a paid program for being 1 of 19 libraries chosen to receive this grant. The library has seen an increase in all areas, including patrons and programs.

 

Motion by Reimers, second by Ohlson to approve a cigarette/tobacco permit for Ogden Mart.

Motion by Anderson, second by Liston to approve a liquor license for Ogden Mart pending State of Iowa approval.

Ayes: All Present, Motion Carried.

 

Council tabled action on the fire department 501(c)3 and charge for services.

 

Motion by Thompson, second by Anderson to approve pay request #11 for the WWTP Activated Sludge Upgrades Project to Woodruff Construction for $340,185.50.

Ayes: All Present, Motion Carried.

 

2019 council meeting schedule will remain the same. Second Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers.

 

An updated schedule was presented to the council for budget work sessions in January.

 

Motion by Reimers, second by Liston to approve Resolution 201901-455. A Resolution to establish official depositories and maximum balance.
